Well then… g33k stuff

Ok, managed to do some backend work on the site, and now have things on a new updated server. Last server was really old, I mean old… like 12.04LTS old.ย Think that is 2-3 back of the long term releases, and end of life was April 2017.ย  ๐Ÿ™
Also converted the Wedding site to a static one, since I don’t modify it anymore, it was a very dated WordPress build…ย  and there wereย  issues migrating it to the new server, come to think of it, I had issues last time too. ๐Ÿ˜•

So yeah,
Started this over Christmas, and wanted to try some new things out with hardware, and the layout of the network. A few hiccups, have popped up, so some revisions had to be made, and shortcuts… short cutted?!?! (that’s a thing…)
Time to invest into big setups is not something I have anymore, but needless to say I am trying for virtualized environment. this is something I have had before, but the hardware at the time wasn’t what I have now. Still thinking about swapping the host OS out, but see what I can come up with. Also need to get the other VM setup, so I can drop the old server altogether, and wipe it… and do something else with it…

Old habits die hard. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Dad seems to be doing OK, txt’ed with mom, I wanted to Skype/Facetime this weekend, but time got away from us… me… I’ll be honest ๐Ÿ™„

KIDS!!!!

All is good…

He lives…

Alright, the heart did stop, and CPR was performed at the hospital, and a pacemaker is installed.

My loving wife did some research, and seems that the condition is referred to as “heart block”, and it is one of the best of a bad situation. But time will tell after the appointments to figure out what happened on my mom’s 71st birthday.

My dad had some warning signs, with some light headedness, and one other blackout, but this time he also smacked his chin hard on a table, and cut it good, six stitches good… and then passed out again on the couch, that’s when 911 was called. After that was the CPR issue, and pacemaker install.

So… big scare.

Flew here.

Had a date with a pretty lady… (Thanks Nicole)

Squeeze my mom…

Saw my grandma…

And these trouble makers stopped by…

Also missed my wife and kids, like I am missing a huge part of me…

Leaving for home tomorrow.

Happy every is ok.

Love you dad.

Turn of events…

Not sure how to start this.. but I’m typing on a plane in flight to Thunder Bay, and of course I choose to do this just as the it starts to get bumpy, so forgive spelling.

First time on a turbo prop plane, and atm is quite the ride.

First week back to work didn’t go to well, ended up falling victim to a cold/flu, was in for Monday, but as of Tuesday things were going down hill. Left work early on Tuesday, and Wednesday was on my ass watching the walls melt, feeling distant, and numb. Thursday, was still off, and stayed home, but by the end of the day was looking up…

Now comes the reason I’m on a plane, see Thursday (Jan 11th) is my mom’s birthday, and the kids were home, so I was going to Skype/iMessage to wish her a happy birthday. Just as I was going to call to start, my mom calls me saying my dad was in the hospital with heart issues, but everything is ok, and he is stable, and resting.

Needless to say, I was a bit shaken…

So, I’m going for a visit.

Should also mention that I am going from 10C to -26C… my face might hurt.

… I was on skates?!?

Yes, I know I’m Canadian and all, but I was never really a hockey guy, so… skating didn’t really happen much.
I skied, a lot… started in grade 1 with Mrs. Farmer my teacher, and lived at the the hill every weekend/PD day till grade 10-11, after that I did nothing for about 3 years, then bought a snowmobile, and that dominated my life till about a year before leaving for college…

Hmmm… more sharing then I thought would happen?
So, yeah… went skating, not for a long one, but enough to know I’m not that good, then Alex wanted none of it, and I was benched with him.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas!
Be safe for New Years!

It was a draft… ?

First timers…

This is the first time the kids were able to use there sliding disks (I know there is a name, drawing a blank) on a real hill, not the little thing in the back, since they got them for last Christmas….

Not a bad hill, but it has a viscous bump mid hill if you start off to one side. Sophie has mastered it backwards, Alex has a spectacular wipeouts, and climbs back up for another go…

Side note, I’m going to try and keep things rolling here. ?

And fix the issue about accessing the site on my own network…

work, work…

Running for a long time…

Well shit, look at this… 3 days, 3 posts. I’m good for a year now. ?

Been running myself down lately, really need to go to bed earlier… just can’t get motivated to do it…???

This is a thing that is happening to Jen too, new job is keeping her busy, but I think things are falling into place. Since the hours a bit different, makes it hard sometimes.

We are winning! I think…

The open road, and wind in my… wait, what?

Thinking road trip on the bike…

Who’s in??
Need one friend to get himself a bike again, I will need a new one that’s 2-up, and retire… 263hs. ๐Ÿ˜
Doing the math, 8hr days it would take about 33 days to complete, not including the time we stop to visit the friends and family along the the way. Some of the places is just to say I’ve been there, like all provinces, Anchorage, and running the Dragon at Deals Gap.

Wishful thinking…

If you can't beat them…. arrange to have them beaten
